I am an ENT specialist. I have been practicing in my profession for 25 years. I am a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine of the Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University in Cracov, in 2007 I obtained the title of ENT specialist, and in 2013 I defended my doctorate in medical sciences under the supervision of prof. Ph.D. Jacek Składenia. The subject of my doctoral thesis was supraesophageal reflux and its impact on middle ear diseases. In Every day I work in the Otolaryngology Department of the Specialist Hospital Memorial Ludwik Rydygier in Cracov, where I consult and perform surgical operations.
I deal with many aspects of ENT, but there are several areas that I am particularly passionate about. One of them is chronic inflammation, recurrent infections and hypertrophic diseases of the palatine tonsils and adenoids (the so-called “third” tonsil) in children and adults.
I diagnose and treat these diseases and also perform surgeries in this field, i.e. removal of the adenoid and reduction or removal of the palatine tonsils.
I am a lecturer at the Department of Speech Therapy at the Jagiellonian University and I cooperate with speech therapists in the field of assessing the development of speech, voice and articulation in children, which involves the assessment of hearing disorders, the size of the tonsils, the stomatognathic system and the articulatory apparatus in children. I diagnose and evaluate the frenulum of the oral cavity and also perform surgeries to cut the frenulum lingual and upper lip, using scissors or radiofrequency (RF).
Another topic of my interest is ear diseases and middle ear microsurgery. Since 2008, I have participated in over 20 middle ear microsurgery courses, trainings, and meetings in Poland and Europe. I perform many surgeries in the field of diseases of the outer ear, middle ear and Eustachian tube, not only due to inflammatory and cancerous changes, but also hearing disorders. My arsenal includes procedures in this field such as middle ear drainage, Eustachian tube plasticity, myringoplasty, tympanoplasty, ossiculoplasty and stapedotomy. I also perform hearing implant surgeries. I diagnose and treat various forms of hearing loss and deafness, tinnitus and dizziness.
The next field of my passion is supraesophageal reflux, which was the subject of my doctoral thesis. Together with my friend, Dr. Izabela Jastrzębska, we have written a series of books for patients about reflux, which are published not only in paper form, but also in the form of e-books and audiobooks. Additionally, I run a blog with medical advice and tips on proper nutrition for reflux.
I also deal with problems related to chronic inflammation of the paranasal sinuses and nasal obstruction. I use conservative treatment and also perform surgeries in this area. Others include salivary gland diseases and laryngeal diseases, which I also diagnose and treat.
I am a member of the Polish Society of Otorhinolaryngologists, Head and Neck Surgeons (PTORL).
